Hi guys and thank you for stopping by my blog. I fell off the face of the earth for a minute there, let me tell you what happened!

In August 2020 I felt really unwell, unbeknownst to me I was actually slowly dying. After seven weeks at home becoming more and more unwell, I was finally referred to the hospital under the cancer clinic for suspected end-stage cervical cancer. My whole body was full of fluid and I had put on over four and a half stones in those seven weeks! I was admitted trying to drain some of the fluid but there were some complications and the consultant said she took one look at me and knew I was suffering from heart failure.

After a thorough check to ensure that there were no signs of cancer I was referred over to the cardiology ward where I spent the following three weeks being monitored, on a drip to drain the fluid and having numerous tests. I left, exhausted, with a diagnosis of severe heart failure caused by undetected and therefore untreated, dilated cardiomyopathy which they suspect is genetic.

I have never been so unwell and so completely exhausted in my whole life. During my hospital stay, we also moved house, so I returned home to a completely new house and everything in boxes. Going from being an incredibly busy company director to being unable to even walk to the kitchen and feed myself through the exhaustion was tough and a massive learning curve. I was forced to rest for many months while I regained some strength.

The heart failure meds then lead to issues with my diabetes which caused me to go blind for many months. After a series of eye injections, laser treatment and an eye operation (with another to follow shortly) I can finally see again!

So now, I am back to blogging finally! I have been able to read quite a bit over the past year but haven’t been able to keep up with my reviews very well so I plan to catch up and complete this year’s Goodreads reading challenge, which I have sat at a lower than normal 60 books.
