Hi there! I’m Jody and I’m thrilled that you’ve decided to join me on my reading adventures. Get ready for a journey of exploration as I review books from genres like mysteries, thrillers, psychological fiction, biographies, historical fiction, literary fiction, women’s fiction and the occasional romance. Oh, and let’s not forget about the young adult books with a hint of witchcraft.

Where it all started

My passion for reading started in my childhood when I enjoyed visiting the library and reading everything, I could get my hands on. I also often got books as gifts and some of these are still my favourites, many years later. Those special moments sparked a lifelong love affair with books.

When I read now, no matter where it is I am always transported to another world – one full of mystery and suspense or humour and emotion. I enjoy reading everywhere and can be often found reading in front of a cosy fire in winter, on the beach in the summer and in the garden, in the forest, in the bath, in bed, on the toilet, while walking, or anywhere really at all times!

Physical or E-Books?

I find myself drawn to both physical books and digital e-books (Kindle) these days – but carrying physical books around can be an issue and due to lack of shelf space in my home storing can be too! This means that collecting them has become more difficult than ever before because they take up so much space. Once I even got rid of all my physical books (except special ones) but my collection always manages to grow again.

Each book still holds a special place in my heart even if they never get displayed on the shelf!  Ultimately though, nothing beats curling up with whichever book I’m currently reading at the time – experiencing unforgettable stories through beautiful words is something that will always be close to my heart.

Why The Sleepy Reader?

I chose the name The Sleepy Reader name because I can also often be found having a nap and I love to sleep; I need a minimum of nine hours a night and regularly a nap on top of that! Of course, I am also a big reader so that made the decision simple.
