Welcome to my review of One Foot In The Grave By Denise Grover Swank. I enjoyed this; I find these quick and compelling reads that I can finish in a few hours, and I can’t wait for the next book! Unfortunately, my reviews are coming up a little muddled for these but they will all be released soon ready for the final instalment.

The third book in the Carly Moore series by Denise Grover Swank.

The dead can’t speak

After months of living in the Smoky Mountains town of Drum, Tennessee, Carly knows firsthand the financial hardship the citizens face. Still, she can’t muster the same excitement as everyone else when town patriarch Bart Drummond breaks ground on his new resort that promises more jobs and money.

But the project comes to a screeching halt when the construction crew unearths a grisly discovery—an unmarked grave. The discovery threatens Carly’s ex-boyfriend when the authorities learn the body belongs to his old girlfriend who had supposedly left town…and Wyatt is suspect number one.

Carly’s sure Wyatt’s innocent, even if the rest of the town, and more importantly, the sheriff’s department, is ready to lock him up. Carly has moved on from Wyatt, but now he’s asking for her help to clear his name. In exchange, he’ll tell her what he knows about his father. Information that will help her bring Bart down.

But danger lurks around every corner, and as Carly puts her life on the line to help the man who betrayed her, she begins to question everything and everyone around her…especially Wyatt Drummond.

New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author Denise Grover Swank was born in Kansas City, Missouri and lived in the area until she was nineteen. Then she became nomadic, living in five cities, four states and ten houses over the course of ten years before she moved back to her roots. She speaks English and smattering of Spanish and Chinese which she learned through an intensive Nick Jr. immersion period. Her hobbies include witty Facebook comments (in own her mind) and dancing in her kitchen with her children. (Quite badly if you believe her offspring.) Hidden talents include the gift of justification and the ability to drink massive amounts of caffeine and still fall asleep within two minutes. Her lack of the sense of smell allows her to perform many unspeakable tasks. She has six children and hasn’t lost her sanity. Or so she leads you to believe.

Of course, another instalment in the Carly Moore Series by Denise Grover Swank was an auto-buy and a much-anticipated release! Unfortunately, as usual, this is an intense, action-packed read that you finish far too soon.

We join Carly again in Drum, where her old flame Wyatt asks for her help with a new crime that happened long ago. Furthermore, there are truths, secrets, twists and turns.

Carly is such a. strong character who grows with each book. All the characters are so multi-layered; they are flawed, have insecurities, secrets and complex relationships.

I feel emotionally attached to Carly from when she first showed up in the Rose Gardner book. It’s been great to watch her growth and progress through her own series.

Carly and Wyatt go through many twists and turns, and just enough is cleared up by the end but enough left ready for the next instalment.

I love the Carly Moore series, not quite as much as I loved Rose and Neely-Kate, but it’s a close second.

I find these quick and compelling reads that I can finish in a few hours, and I can’t wait for the next book!
