Two strangers. Two chance meetings. One extraordinary love story…

Nell and Charlie feel a spark when they meet by chance in a cafe. But they don’t trade numbers, or surnames, so there’s no way they’ll meet again.

But the next day, Nell’s phone rings at work. Somehow, impossibly, Charlie is on the other end. And he needs her help.

Nell is about to save a life, fall in love … and risk everything for a perfect stranger.

Tender, thought-provoking and joyful, Charlie and Nell’s unique love story will capture your heart and give you hope. Perfect for fans of The Sight of You by Holly Miller and Love Rosie by Cecelia Ahern.

Hannah Sunderland was born and bred in Sutton Coldfield, north of Birmingham, where she still lives with her partner,

several thousand books and a Swiss cheese plant named Wallace. She has a BA Hons degree in Fine Art from the University of Derby and now runs her own business, a company that makes props for crime scene reconstruction. She was a debut author during the Covid-19 lockdown and during this time discovered that a writer’s life is not so different from self-isolation anyway. Her claim to fame is playing Tree #4 in her Year One school play.

First of all a disclaimer, this book discusses suicide and may contain triggers.

Despite the suicide subject, this is a romantic and heartfelt read. Nell works for a suicide hotline called Healthy Minds where she takes a call from Charlie who has seen their sticker and is feeling rock bottom. She soon realises that it’s the same Charlie that she recently met and can’t stop thinking about from the coffee shop around the corner.

This has strong, relatable, loving and caring characters who I couldn’t help but love, especially Nell herself, Although, I think Charlie’s Uncle was my favourite overall. He will never give up on his nephew and his eccentric and very loveable personality shine through.

This looks at suicide, loss and recovery while covering depression, love after loss and grief in general. The support of family and friends is covered as well as their role in helping recovery and their endless love. It also looks at the love of a stranger, how quickly we become involved and what we give for those we love. The tough subjects are dealt with very sensitively.

While it’s a touching story and very sad at times it also manages to be humorous in places and isn’t a dark read. I laughed and cried throughout…always the sign of a great book!
