Hello Readers, and welcome to my April Wrap Up!
April has been a much quieter month for me. Unfortunately, a family member caught covid, which put paid to all of our Easter plans, which was a real shame in terms of seeing family, but a wonderful weekend full of reading and relaxing, so all was not lost! We also managed to catch up with all of those people we missed at the last weekend of the month so that was a great bonus!
This month has seen a lot of trips to bookshops, book swaps and some online book shopping, too.. so much book mail! So many exciting new books have made my heart sing, especially those signed ones and the all-important beautiful sprayed edges… be still my beating heart!
Books Stats
I have read 29 books this month, that’s a staggering 8,674 pages! I have never read so many books in the month before and I am super excited to have been able to achieve this. Mostly this has been down to a long Easter weekend of reading and some short stories, also my first ever graphic novels!
Here are this months stats:

Goal Review

This month’s reading has made a massive impact on my year’s goal of reading 100 books. I am almost there already, which is fantastic and far more than I have ever managed before.
I have improved my ARC v other targets this month as well. I still have quite a list of ARCs to get through, but I am just about managing to keep up. Not sure if this month will be the same, but I will try my best!
I have done better with my physical books this month, with a whole 5 sneaking in there, and I have quite a few new ones I hope to get to soon.
I still haven’t fully committed to a reading challenge, but I am well over 70% of the way through one; more details are to come later, but I am happy with the progress there.
I have been making some lovely new friends on Bookstagram this month too; a couple are local to me, so that’s very exciting and today, I have reached 500 followers, which is quite honestly mind-blowing! I will be hosting a giveaway on there very soon, so make sure you’re following me!
I have been reading some poetry. I’m not keeping up with my aim (which I didn’t put on here to read one a day), but I am still getting through them, and I have discovered a couple of poets that I really like. I have loved Bill Bilston and will be purchasing one of his books for my small but growing poetry collection.
I have also been blogging regularly, which is great because I love seeing all my reviews together in one place, and I am planning to begin adding some more posts which aren’t book reviews shortly, so watch out for those soon.
If you want to know more about my goals for 2022 you can read my post here!
Book of the Month
My book of the month this month is ‘The Breakdown’ by Arianne Richmonde. I can’t tell you much about the story because you want to read it without knowing all the details but it’s full of twists and turns. I loved it, despite not liking many of the characters.
It was just released on 11th April so if you haven’t already got a copy I urge you to go and purchase one! My review for this can be found here.

Books Read
Here are the books I read in April, there are so many I had to split it over four pages! There are some gems in here and some not so great but good books.

My shortest book was Julie’s Journey by Julie Mulholland at just 23 harrowing pages.
My longest book was The Shadow Child by Rachel Hancox at 493 pages.
The review for each book is either already on the blog (just use the search to find or scroll back through the recent posts) or will be coming in the next couple of weeks, aside from Women Like Us by Amanda Prowse which won’t be released until September so my review will be much later around release day.
Looking forward to…
I have a really exciting month coming up. I turn 40 this month which I am really looking forward to. So many people dread turning 40 and see it as a giant millstone around their necks and start counting their age backwards, but not me. I am excited to turn 40 and look forward to some new challenges and experiences.
My baby sister is also getting married this month, so we have lots of celebrations coming up, and I have some excellent books to look forward to (well, hopefully anyway, obviously I haven’t read them yet!) alongside an exciting idea for 40th birthday presents!
Until next month,
Happy reading xoxo
