Hello Readers, and welcome to my May Wrap Up!
Apologies for my lateness, I have been enjoying a few days off and can’t believe it’s already the 7th June! But wow, what a month May has been! I had my awesome 40th birthday, something I never say about birthdays, but this one was the best ever! As you know, I asked for copies of people’s favourite books with a message inside as presents, I got quite a few, and they are so lovely to have as a keepsake. I hope to read them all and am waiting for two more then, I will share them all with you.
As it’s been a big birthday month, I have been busy catching up with things. My youngest sister’s wedding was also at the end of the month, which was terrific. My daughter and I followed it up with a few days in London. So, I’ve had a brilliant month but am now a little behind coming into June!
Books Stats
I haven’t read nearly as many books this month with only 13 books. That’s sill an awesome 3,940 pages though so not too shabby! I have no complaints though as its been such a great month.
Here are this months stats:

Goal Review

Despite feeling like I am a little behind with everything after some lovely time off, and not officially in May, I have just passed my annual reading goal of 100 books! Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would ever be writing this at the beginning of June, and I will have to set a new goal now. So what number should I go for?
I am aware that the end of the year gets much busier, and there is summer in between when I don’t usually read as often as I go out. So far, though, I have an average of 19 books a month which would give me 233 books for the year. Part of me thinks a new goal of 200 would be a stretch, but then the other part thinks 250 would be a BIG stretch, and I should push myself for that. What do you think? Let me know in the comments, or send me a message!
My ARC v Other goal is skewed this month as well. I over requested on NetGalley and was gifted a book as well, so I have had a lot of ARCs to read this month and have quite a few for the next months as well. However, I have also got all the lovely birthday books to read and some new books I’ve bought (I swear it’s an addiction, and I need therapy now!), so I hope this will balance again soon.
If you want to know more about my goals for 2022 you can read my post here!
Book of the Month
My book of the month this month is ‘Duckling’ by Eve Ainsworth. I really enjoyed this book. I saw this book advertised months ago and loved the description as ‘A gripping, emotional, life-affirming story you’ll want to recommend to a friend’. It was a real treat.
It was released on 26th May, so if you haven’t already got a copy, have a read of my review HERE and order yourself a copy today. There is even an easy link to purchase it as quickly as possible!

Books Read
Here are the books I read in May! There are some gems in here and some not so great but good books.

My shortest book was Mastering your Scenes by J.A. Cox at just 76 pages.
My longest book was Duckling by Eve Ainsworth at 400 pages.
The review for each book is either already on the blog (just use the search to find or scroll back through the recent posts) or will be coming in the next couple of weeks.
Looking forward to…
I am looking forward to June, hoping for some sunny weather to be able to read outside. In the middle of the month, I have an arm knitting course to make a blanket that I can’t wait for, and I am looking forward to spending some time with family and friends outdoors.
I am changing my reading a little for June as well. Given that its Pride month, I am planning to read LGBT+ books only (aside from the one I started in May and didn’t manage to finish before the end of the month). More to come on that shortly!
Until next month,
Happy reading xoxo
