2022 Goal Review Quarter One

by thesleepyreader

Hi readers, and welcome to my first quarterly goals review of 2022! I will go through each of my goals and update my progress and any amendments.

I am making significant progress with this goal. I will need to amend it later in the year, but I haven’t worked out my new goal, so I am leaving that for a minute. I have just started my 61st book of the year as I write. I have never read so many books in such a short space of time before, so this feels like a significant achievement. However, my left eye is beginning to play up a little, and I am concerned I won’t be able to continue at the same rate for the rest of the year.

This has been a bit of a tricky balancing act so far this year as I selected a heavy load of ARCs to read and keep seeing others I want as well. I get a bit too click-happy and load up my shelf with new books!

However, on average, I am about 60/40 in favour of ARCs, so not as far off as I had feared. I have a lot of other books I really want to read and a couple of series, so I think this should balance out a little more over the year.

Changing habits is tough sometimes, and I can fully admit that I completely forgot that I was going to try and read at least one physical book a month in January. Not a great start! However, in February, I did remember and read 5 physical books with just one in March, but that still fulfils the goal.

I think this will increase during the year, as I have quite a collection of physical books to read now!

I am still working on this goal. I am adding my books retrospectively to several reading challenges. I plan to select at least one challenge to complete when I review in September, as that will give me three months to complete the chosen challenge/s.

I have been working on this goal the most this quarter. I started off with around 20 followers and no idea what I was doing or trying to achieve. I have since grown to almost 400 followers and have made a couple of new friends.

I have spent some time testing things, gaining new skills and working out what I want my page to look like. This has also included playing around with my photography (mainly behind the scenes). As a result, I feel much happier with what I am producing now.

I plan to continue this and add in some giveaways going forward. If you would like to join in come over and give me a follow here!

I have found some poetry that I have enjoyed over the past few months. While continuing with my poems every day. I also have some books by Sylvia Plath, Emily Dickinson and a new one I just got by Rapi Kaur.

Rapi Kaur’s book, Home Body, has some lovely short poems. I like this one:
Why escape yourself
When you are so beautiful
get closer to your shine

I have been managing to keep up with the blog much better recently. I feel much more organised with my planning and posting schedule, and I have enjoyed it immensely. I have sorted out the email sign up so you can get each blog post to your email though this will be changing slightly shortly as I want to change providers.

I plan to start bringing you some additional posts and not just book reviews so watch this space (or subscribe!), so you don’t miss them!
