Welcome to my review of Take Your Breath Away By Linwood Barclay. Another great book from one of my favourite authors.

The breathtaking new crime thriller from the international bestselling author of the Sunday Times bestsellers Elevator Pitch and Find You First…
It’s always the husband, isn’t it?
One weekend, while Andrew Mason was on a fishing trip, his wife, Brie, vanished without a trace. Most people assumed Andy had got away with murder, but the police couldn’t build a strong case against him. For a while, Andy hit rock bottom – he drank too much, was abandoned by his friends, nearly lost his business and became a pariah in the place he had once called home.
Now, six years later, Andy has put his life back together. He’s sold the house he shared with Brie and moved away for a fresh start. When he hears his old house has been bulldozed and a new house built in its place, he’s not bothered. He’s settled with a new partner, Jayne, and life is good.
But Andy’s peaceful world is about to shatter. One day, a woman shows up at his old address, screaming, ‘Where’s my house? What’s happened to my house?’ And then, just as suddenly as she appeared, the woman – who bears a striking resemblance to Brie – is gone. The police are notified and old questions – and dark suspicions – resurface.
Could Brie really be alive after all these years? If so, where has she been? It soon becomes clear that Andy’s future, and the lives of those closest to him, depends on discovering what the hell is going on. The trick will be whether he can stay alive long enough to unearth the answers…
Linwood Barclay is the New York Times bestselling author of twenty previous novels, and two thrillers for children. His books have been translated into more than two dozen languages. He wrote the screenplay adaptation for his novel Never Saw it Coming and his book The Accident has been made into a TV series in France. His novel No Time for Goodbye was a global bestseller. A native of Connecticut, he now lives in Toronto with his wife, Neetha.

This was a great read right from the start. Andrew Mason’s wife Brie disappeared six years ago, and Andrew is the main suspect for her murder. However, he has finally moved on and has a new relationship when suddenly, recent sightings of Brie throw everything into disarray.
This has a strong plot, and I enjoyed reading it. It keeps you turning the pages well after bedtime. It’s fast-paced and well written, another great book from Linwood Barclay. We are directed to be suspicious of all the characters to find out exactly what happened to Brie and why. This produces a great read where you have no idea what will happen next or what happened in the past and why.
The characters are well developed and relatable. There are many characters, though it’s easy to remember who they are and where they fit in. the story is told from multiple viewpoints, which adds interest.
The ending was superb, not as expected; although there was a slight nod to it further back, it wasn’t as I had predicted at all.
An excellent read from the wonderful Linwood Barclay!
